Oruha's progress

Heya!!

Been bit busy with my Oruha cosplay and I wanted to share some progress with you again.

Made Oruha's pointy cups and been busy with her skirt part.
I'm not 100% satisfied with the cups yet but I will definetly do something about it.
Here are some progress pictures.

I started ou t by making the shape out of craftfoam. I didn't had enough black so ignore the taupe colored one haha.

Heated the foam above my stove and used a ball kind of shape to form it in to the right shape.
Used Pretex to harden out the foam at both sides. I used 3 tot 4 layers on both sides.
This is Pretex btw. I believe you can buy it in most craftstores.
Mostly I use the transparent one but I accidently bought the white one >__<

Because of the Pretex I kinda lost my shape so I had to reheat it again.

After reheating and stuff I cutted the pieces out a pretty strong vinyl fabric and glued it on the cups.
Cutted the shapes but as you can see....only the 2nd cup looks good enough >___<

Now there are 2 reasons for not liking this cups and I'v got a solution for both of them ;)
1: I don't like the edges
2: there is no depth in in when looking from a distance.
Solution: I will be used pearls on a band to cover of the mistakes and create some depth.
Yes I know this is not in Oruha's design and stuff but Another Cosplayer  inspired me to use it in her costume and on her wings.

It will look kinda like this (for as far as possible with 1 hand)

So I will be cutting the points a bit better and add the pearls hopefully next week.

As for her skirt I used 3 meter of black lining and also had some chiffon fabric with roses on it.
But I found some nice shimmery organza fabric so I couldn't choose which one I liked best.

Front: Lining only

 Back: Lining only

Front: Organza only

 Back: Organza only

What if we mix these together?
Front: both layers and poofy effect
Back: both layers and such a nice effect

This is how the trim looks.....still don't know if I should keep it this way since organza is a fabric that can easily rip...

My cat Akio (a.k.a. Mr.Owner) approves with the 2 layers.

I've added alot of pictures so maybe this post is a bit unreadable but I still hope you enjoy the pics.
Besides...pics tell more then words right ^__^

Well have to get back working on it again.
Hopefully I will be able to post something again very soon.

Mixed post

Hey all,

Today I will be posting a mixed post. It's about fashion, valentine and cosplay.

Last saturday I had an appointment about something I won't be telling you guys yet (sorrryyyyy).
My fiancee went together with me that day and since my mom was planning to eat soup + bread, my fiancee suggested we should eat at the Sumo (Japanese restaurant).
After some nice sushi and stuff we went back home for a birthday party. But on our way back I couldn't resist a little photoshoot ;)
 Waiting for my sushi

My outfit: leather jacket, jeans, overkneeboots, jaguar print bag and shawl

VALENTINE'S DAY:
We allready decided that we wanted to dine at an Argentinian restaurant. But my fiancee suprised me with a beautifull red rose when he picked me up at my work ^_________^
I really enjoyed the peppersteak and had such a great evening.

I know that you should love you lover everyday and that Valentine's day is just something commercial. But somehow it should also be a reminder that everyday SHOULD BE a special day.

Never leave home without a kiss or a hug. It can be your last one.
I think this is something we should keep in mind while ranting about how commercial Valentine's day is.
If that special day isn't needed and is such a moneyspening thing, then don't cry when you haven't kissed your love goodbye.

Here a few pics of my love and I

MERCHANDISE PLUSHIES:
I also have been working hard last weekend and today.
Managed to finish one project again!!! Still 5 to go....

Anyway this project was about making plushies as merchandise for a upcoming computergame.
My dear friend is making a dress-up game for her ending project at school.
She asked me if I could make some plushies as merchandise ^___^
Visit  her weblog for more info.
Oh nooeesss...Prowly's taking over my sewingplace

SPD:
Been working on my other project for two customers as well.
These customers are friends of my fiancee who will be giving shows in the hardcore scene.
My fiancee is also part of their group as the DJ and I will be making the outfits for this awesome group.
I feel very honored and I hope I will be able to act up to their wishes.

Had to use my mom's sewingmachine. Really that thing is over 30 years old but it's a true machine when it comes to seiwng big leather projects.
Omg.....3 machines on 1 table XDDD
Anyway the machine in the middle is the old one from the brand Singer. At the left is my first sewingmachine a Brother LS-2920 and at the very right is my serger a Toyota.

Today I have been cutting out the leather jacket and also sewed it together. Still have to buy, cut and sew the lining and stuff.

And also bee busy with cutting out a bolero jacket out of red stretch satin

Well that was it for today I guess.
Made such a long post about everyting and anything haha.
But I will go to bed now since I'm very tired =__=
Tomorrow I have to work again so...

Making off Oruha's corset

Heya ^__^

Been spending some time and stuff behind my sewing machine for Oruha's corset.
Also made some pictures of steps I took in this progress for as far as I could.
The corset is far from perfect but when I'm in timepressure I don't give much about things you don't see (like the inside of something that get's covered by some other details, while normally I do give a damn about these little things and I can get frustrated if the inside doesn't look as good as the outside XDDD

Anyway here are some progress steps and pictures:

The lining of the corset is simple black cotton.
Since I wasn't happy with my previous cups I used my mom's old bra.

This is the inside of the inside XDD
I stiffened the cotton lining with some interfacing so it would be moresturdy.

This is my vinyl side which will come on top of the interfacingside.

I covered the cup with my stretchy vinyl fabric and pinned it down.
Used some glue and then handstitched the vinyl to the cup.

Now ofcourse there is always something that must go wrong XDDD
There where my finger is should be the place where a bra should hold the strap....mine was pointing at my underarms which is far from comfortable.
It would have looked better of the cup was more rotated....
Oruha's corset will be covered with these metal kind of feathers so I should take extra care of placing them at the right points.

Just to show you what a breast enhancer can do I will show you a few pics of without the use of filling up your cups and without.
There is minimal results but probably enough to just give it that extra boost.

WITHOUT EXTRA FILLING

And now
WITH EXTRA FILLING

As you can see there isn't an extreme result but there is enough result to give that extra boost.
So if you need and extra boost, use it!
It does make a lot of difference in some cases ;)

Well that's it for today.
Will try to do something is this little upcoming hour but it won't be much.
Also no day off tomorrow so I won't be able to really finish things off this weekend I'm affraid :(

One project done, six to go!!

Hi all!!!

Today I felt very crappy and ill :(  but I did managed to get things finished as you can read in the title. even managed to clean up my room (for as far as possible).
Took pretty much of my energy though.

It's my mascotte costume 'Marieke' for Animecon2011.
I won't spoil the fun with a complete picture of the costume so therefor I only post a picture of the dress without hat, wooden shoes and the cape + broche.

This is the first time I clayed something that looks like something XD
It's my first skull ever and it looks pretty much OK to me.

And this is after the paintjob:

Also started on Oruha - Clover 's skirt today and it's also finished.
It's very short haha so luckily I have some kind of long skirt on top of it.

This is it for today.
I might either work a little on Oruha's top or just get myself a cup of tea and play a little on my Xbox360.

My weekend and progress

Hey all,

Had a great but tiring weekend.
Saturday I went to DJ Plague's B-day The Final Countdown where I was a dancer for the last CSR live show.
We went to bed around 6:45 AM and had to woke up around 10:45 AM again to get ourselfes ready for Tsunacon 2011.
I didn't put on any cosplay since I was very tired and I took my niece with me.

Anyway, today I've been working hard on some projects again.

Had a cosplay in mind but my fiancee came with another idea.
I won't tell you yet what's it going to be cause I'm not really sure if I can truly make it since it has alot of armour stuff.
But at least I managed to make the bodysuit, stockings and sleeves. ;)

Also been busy with my mascot cosplay for Animecon.
The skirt was allready finished but I've been working hard on the top today.
Still need to do some stuff like adding the gold border all over the top, finish the sleeves at the inside and maybe alter it a bit more so it will have a better fit.

My mom lent me her hoopskirt from her old wedding gown so the dress would have more volume.

Also have news about my website!!!!
My friend showed me what I could do with wordpress and hopefully end of March it will be finished, completely in my style and colors and even easier to work with for me!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy ^o^

I still have to make some pages and stuff cause I still miss alot of things but I will be very happy when it's online allready.

Well, time to go to bed now. Have to work again tomorrow...
